Today’s Reading – Psalms 39-40
I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart.” I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know. I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness. (Psalms 40:8-10 NLT)
David found joy i serving The Lord. Following God’s will for his life was not a burden. David did not feel like he was missing out on something, but instead found the joy of a life of obedience. He also told others about it as well. I like the phrase, “I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart.”
Application to me – Do I always find joy in serving The Lord? I can sometimes follow The Lord out of routine or drudgery instead of finding joy in it. David reminds me here to find joy in doing the Lord’s will and a key to that is always being ready to tell others about God’s faithfulness and saving power.
