Today’s Reading – 1 Chronicles 11-12
David becomes king “as the Lord had promised through Samuel.” That was a long time ago. David was just a boy tending his father’s sheep at home. Did he ever give up on God’s promise and His anointing? I wonder if I would have hung in there for that long. David learned much in this time about kings, being a soldier and fighter, disappointment and people. It probably made him a better king. Yet we don’t always see the work that goes behind leadership. The suffering that comes with the position. It is that way in life. Someone we hold in high esteem or honor has a story behind them. Whatever we might be going through now is preparing us for the future. I need to remember God’s anointing on me as His child when the road to royalty gets rough.
