One is Taken and the Other Left

Today’s Reading – 2 Kings 17 and 18

The nation of Israel is no more. Assyria comes and captures all of Israel and takes them back to Assyria. God had had enough. Israel had worshiped other gods from its beginning. Judah was the only part of the original 12 tribes left. Why were they spared? (At least for now.) They worshiped other gods also. But they had some good kings that didn’t do evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Hezekiah was their best king. Chapter 18 said that  there was no other king like him. Hezekiah not only followed God, but he tore down all the other places and objects of worship. He lead well.

Application – God wants all of us. He just doesn’t want us to worship Him but wants us to destroy all the things in our life that lead us away from Him. What are the idols in my life that need to be torn down?
